John's Terminator Tournament List Empty John's Terminator Tournament List

Post  Decius Tue Sep 22, 2015 11:49 pm

Uh, hello. I'm John. I've posted here... twice now? Anyway, I signed up for the tournament and was told by Ben to post a list here. So I am posting a list here. Well, not here, down there, under this paragraph.

It's my Chaos Terminator army accomplished by using the Champions of Fenris supplement for the Space Wolves codex. Specifically, the detachment that allows one to deploy up to 8 Elite choices. Other benefits include increasing all the Wolf Guard Terminators to WS5, the "Champions" of my squads gain Preferred Enemy (Characters) when in a challenge, and I'm never allowed not to challenge, ever.

Kane the Astromancer - 180
Counts as Njal in Terminator Armour
Mastery Level 3, knows Biomancy and probably other powers I should use some day
Adamantium Will, Psychic Hood, and Saga of re-roll your leadership tests

Baldur the Prognosticator - 115
Counts as Arjac
Storm Shield, can chuck his S10 thunder hammer for fun, 2W and Eternal Warrior, and he can inflict a Hammer of Wrath attack absolutely never because I always forget he has Hammer of Wrath

The Plasmelta Fists
4 Terminators - 192
Champion with Powerfist and Combi-Melta
Terminator with Powerfist and Combi-Melta
2 Terminators with Powerfists and Combi-Plasma

The Plasma Fists
4 Terminators - 212
Champion with Wolf Claw and Combi-Plasma
Terminator with Powerfist, Stormbolter, and Cyclone
2 Terminators with Powerfists and Combi-Plasma

The Fists
5 Terminators - 235
Champion with Frost Sword and Combi-Plasma
Terminator with Powerfist and Assault Cannon
3 Terminators with Powerfists and Stormbolters

Hresh the Brute Lord - 145
Venerable Dread with Ferisian Axe and Blizzard Shield
No ranged weapons, a 3+ invulnerable save on his front armour, and a frustrating lack of smoke launchers. Nick-named by Ben as "God damn it John, I hate that dread so much".

Kurast the Mad - 135
Counts as Murderfang
It Will Not Die, Ignores Shaken/Stunned, re-rolls to-wound, and a potential charge of 10 attacks at strength 8: he promises extreme pain before he breaks his promise by promptly dying to panicked gunfire.

Soandso the Forgotten - 150
Venerable Dread with Helfrost Cannon, Heavy Flamer, and Powerfist

Drop Pod - 45
Stormbolter and Homing Beacon

Drop Pod - 45
Homing Beacon and Stormbolter

Drop Pod - 45
Homingbolter and Stormbeacon

Total - 1499

Comp Cost - 4
1 for Njal
1 for the dread with a blizzard shield
2 for taking 3 drop pods
0 for the Terminators squads with Combi-Plas/Melta because they are 1 guy short of the comp point penalty

The drop pods are Fast Attack choices, rather than dedicated transports, to allow me to decide what units I wish to have embarked during deployment. I've typically dropped the dreads, but I left the terminator squads just the right size to change my mind if the circumstances permit. They also have homing beacons if the kids are in bed and the terminators are feeling frisky.

Comment welcome, but no criticisms please, I'm just here for an ego massage. Thank you.

Well as long as you have enough bodies to complete the scenarios it looks like a solid list!

I just wanted to point out that blizzard shields are C1 meaning they have a base cost of 0 for 1 and they cost 1 each if you have 2 etc. So you can subtract another credit off there.

As Brian said. Very tough, but low model count army. The 3+ invul on the dread is pretty amazing. What a difference such a small thing makes.

Do SW drop pods allow 12 models? I thought everyone's got reduced down to 10? If so it kind of limits the options for deploying Arjac and Njal (since if they attach to a squad they don't fit).

He doesn't have to use the Termies in pods, he can teleport in with the Termies. If he does put them in Pods, he has 2 4-man squads.

It's funny, I've worked up a DW Strike/Redemption Force list that's a close mirror at 1500. 3 Termie squads, 3 dreads in Pods, 2 HQ (one a buff hammery guy and one a Libby). Also 4 Comm Comp.

Played against this a few weeks ago (my greenwing and Ben's Admech vs John's Termies and Marks Harlies). I really really dislike that plasma squad, and I want one of my own.

Ah I see now. I thought those were two 4 regular termis plus the champion (making it 5). Gotcha now.

Makes me wish Strike Squads still had Warp Quake Razz

Looks like a very hard list to deal with. drop pods are the win, and you almost always get full use out of your combi's on those units.

Jealous of SW Special characters.

I didn't realize the army was only 3 Comp Points. Thanks for that.

It can be tough to have so few models, and, except for the initial deep strike, none of it is particularly mobile. I'll just have to pick a part of the table and grab it as tight as I can.

Thanks for the replies!

I suspect I'll be spending the whole day double checking commcomp scores.

If you want Mark I can PM you the one I'll be using now with what I think it scores for comp if it helps out. I don't have time to change anything else anywho!
