Testing Necrons in CommComp

Post  Planes on Thu Aug 27, 2015 3:13 pm

Picked up Battlescribe, figured I'd toss together a list similar to what I like to run and see how it comps out.

+++ Test Necrons (1500pts) +++

++ Necrons: Codex (2015) (Combined Arms Detachment) (805pts) ++

+ HQ (90pts) +

Cryptek (90pts) [Chronometron (25pts), Staff of Light]

+ Elites (125pts) +

Triarch Stalkers (125pts)
····Triarch Stalker (125pts) [Heat Ray]

+ Troops (365pts) +

Warriors (130pts) [10x Necron Warrior (130pts)]

Warriors (235pts) [Ghost Ark (105pts), 10x Necron Warrior (130pts)]

+ Fast Attack (60pts) +

Canoptek Scarabs (60pts) [3x Canoptek Scarab (60pts)]

+ Heavy Support (165pts) +

Canoptek Spyders (165pts) [Canoptek Spyder (50pts)]
····Canoptek Spyder (55pts) [Fabricator Claw Array (5pts)]
····Canoptek Spyder (60pts) [Gloom Prism (10pts)]

++ Necrons: Codex (2015) (Formation Detachment) (695pts) ++

+ Formation (695pts) +

Destroyer Cult (695pts)
····Destroyer Lord (185pts) [Phase Shifter (25pts), Resurrection Orb (25pts), Staff of Light, The Veil of Darkness (25pts)]
····Destroyers (120pts) [3x Destroyer (120pts)]
····Destroyers (120pts) [3x Destroyer (120pts)]
····Destroyers (120pts) [3x Destroyer (120pts)]
····Heavy Destroyers (150pts) [3x Heavy Destroyer (150pts)]

Model count: 43, +0pts
Transports: 1, +0pts
AV 13: 2, +1pts (as per small?)
Destroyer Lord: +1pts
Cryptek: +1pts
Ghost Ark: +1pts
Triark Stalker: +2pts
Canoptek Spyders: +3pts, +C2 (as per small?)
Destroyers/Heavy Destroyers: +4pts
Destroyer Cult: +2pts

Final Score: 15 points, I think?

I'm guessing from this that Destroyer Cults and Scarab Farm is some kind of issue down under, but the list is entirely playable inside the 20 point limit.

Seeding the Heavy Destroyers into the basic squads would free up 120 points and -1 comp score. Dropping a Spyder frees up another 50-ish points and -1 comp score. The remaining ~170 points could get thrown into the foot warrior squad and base scarab group to make both more durable out of the gates and keep me at 13. Kind of odd that they make your pay extra for the Destroyer Cult when used outside of the Decurion, but if you take it inside the Decurion you have to pay through the nose for it due to T5 status.

Ack, forgot the C1 on the Destroyers/Heavies because of the Stalker. That's an extra 6 points there, I think, making at least one of the above changes I mused necessary.

Not using the small games rules as an fyi. 1500 is classified as *Medium* based on the newer document.

Ripping the farm and cult out of the list wholesale put the cost of the remainder of the list down to 580 point, out of the available 1500, and also drops the Comp score from 21 down to 5. If we're looking to live around a score of 8 or so, that gives me 3 points of CommComp to play with still. Probably going to start running into more of the universal comp points this way than race specific, but worth playing around with.

I wonder how hard it would be to mod something like Battlescribe to tally comp automatically...

+++ Test Necrons (1492pts) +++

++ Necrons: Codex (2015) (Combined Arms Detachment) (1492pts) ++

+ HQ (90pts) +

Cryptek (90pts) [Chronometron (25pts), Staff of Light]

+ Elites (203pts) +

Flayed Ones (78pts) [6x Flayed One (78pts)]

Triarch Stalkers (125pts)
····Triarch Stalker (125pts) [Heat Ray]

+ Troops (704pts) +

Warriors (234pts) [18x Necron Warrior (234pts)]

Warriors (235pts) [Ghost Ark (105pts), 10x Necron Warrior (130pts)]

Warriors (235pts) [Ghost Ark (105pts), 10x Necron Warrior (130pts)]

+ Fast Attack (225pts) +

Canoptek Tomb Sentinel [FW] (225pts) [Gloom Prism (15pts), Sepulchral Scarabs (15pts)]

+ Heavy Support (270pts) +

Tesseract Ark [FW] (270pts) [Two Particle Beamers (20pts)]

Model Count: 49, +0pts
Transports: 2, +0pts
AV13/QS: 4, +3pts
Cryptek: 1, +1pts
Ghost Ark: 2, +2pts
Triark Stalker: +2pts
Tesseract Ark: +1pts

Total: 9pts

A significant drop from 21-ish points, though part of that was from looking at the small game chart instead of the regular/medium game chart it seems. I could plausibly have this all looking pretty by the time the tourney rolls around, too.

Any thoughts on the new form of the list? Any points I added up wrong? I think all this works out still, and offers me roughly a win-and-a-half worth of score.

Only thing of note from my end is that the Centipede in the list is the shooty one, and I only have the heads for the melee one for the purposes of building. Shouldn't be too much of an issue, but I figured I should put that out there just in case.

It is Necron FW stuff. I'm pretty sure nobody is going to notice. And yes the second list looks like way better!
