League End

Hey.. the league is over and we got some play-offs.

I just have to talk to Darren first then I'll post the match-ups. I've got the random match-ups all made, but I'm just not sure who's currently "in" the league.

I'm in a bit of a bind.... With the new codex dropping tomorrow the list I've been using is literally illegal. Time for some list rewrites!

Aside from Lords of War.. any other issues?

I was gonna get everything types out last night from my home computer, but got tied up. Typing lengthy posts on my phone drives me nuts.. but I should be able to get to it this afternoon.

I was also going to ask about missions. I usually don't mind making a few up.. or making sure the 3 scenarios are a good mix and balance. I've only played the base Marlstrom missions.. what do guys suggest as a good mix of missions?

I havent checked.. have the aussies updated their army points system to include the eldar yet?

We could shoot for a number based on that system as well.

Lords of War I think we all agree are out. I personally could care less about "character" LOW (Dante, Chad, Calgary, etc)

FW- I'm in favor of everything. I don't see how any of it is more or less as balanced as 40k, especially with Comm. Comp.

Formations/Decurion style detachments- my only personal bit is I feel formations should be from your primary faction. I can't stand army A, come the apocalypse allied to army B, with a formation from army C, that would never ally with A or B.

The Decuruon issue is probably more of a Battle Company issue. I can tell you without even trying I can take my 1780 and turn it into a 2250 force. Most other issues (12 wraithknights, are covered by the previous stuff.

And Community Comp is actually up to the new Space Marines. Only thing they won't have is Dark Angels but they may have that by next week.

And I forgot. Maelstrom missions. Love me some maelstrom missions.

I agree with all of Beau's points. For some reason I haven't felt to concerned about the free transports thing. The transports d9n't get Obj Sec right?

FW im all good with. I think the only question would be the 30k vs. 40k thing. I'm always fine playing against Dan's 30k army.. but for the play-offs we might have to stick with a 40k one. If you've never played against a 30k list there's alot of new things to be aware of. Nothing game breaking.. just all new rules for guns, units etc.

I don't claim to be the authority and Lord knows I've been wrong before. Anyone else feel free to chime in.

The transports get Ob Sec as well. I don't think the Battle company is instant win, but other armys with freebies (tzeentch summoning swarm, Bloodtithing in a blood letter, etc) you have to do something. Something has to die, or you have to successfully cast,etc. With Battle Co it's 6-12+ Obj Scoring tanks added to a Marine horde army.

3 full Tactical squads w/ Flamer/melta
3 combat Tactical Sqds w/ melts guns
2 full assault sqds (no JP) 2 flamers

Cool, I made play offs.

So, not sure if it's listed anywhere yet, but who do I actually play for game 1?

Also, will Legacies of Glory be permitted? Not sure if anyone has ever actually used those from people I've played... So just wondering.

What are Legacies of Glory? Never heard of them.

They're basically special rules you can give vehicles for SM and CSM from IA2 and IA13. Sorta like veteran abilities for 3.5 CSM.

Long as you have a print out or a copy on your phone or something I can see, I'd have no issue. (Or battlescribe, like our game at the highlander tourney).

That's where I am seeing them -battlescribe-. Reading through them, there are some nice ones.

Ah, as of the the previous points tally I was in there. Seems that is no longer the case.

Im still figuring out the missions.. but I'm leaning towards just rolling for a random maelstrom mission.

As always.. i drew randomly for the match-ups.

Dan (1775) vs. Paz (1760)
Robyn (1745) vs. Beau (1790)

Pool 2
Matt G (1730) vs. Mike S (1715)
Marshall (1700) vs. Mark (1805)

Just a quick refresher, you play the same list throughout the whole playoffs, no changes, and at the assigned point beside your name. You play your opponent, than the winner of other game in your pool. The two pool champs play. There are prizes for the 1st and 2nd in the form of some store credit. And of course.. you get your name on the Wall of Champions!

For the first round, and possibly subsequent rounds, roll for a random Maelstrom mission and deployment from the book.

The pool divisions are funny. 2, 3, 4, 5 all in pool 1. 6, 7,8 and Mark in the second. And for Mark.. this is like the 3rd time i think he started rounds as forst place, going against 8th.

I'd be free any night next week, as long as we have enough notice. Friday night at den is prob the easiest. Sat we have a wedding, and the neighbor kid is staying over that night and Sunday. Then free again. Have to work on my list now:)
