alternate HP system

having a discussion with someone on B&C, they had an interesting alternative to the HP system on vehicles to make tanks viable and balance out the system.

you start off by making it so only Penetrating Hits remove a HP.

Glances, of course, no longer remove a HP. instead, you roll on the vehicle damage chart with a -2 Modifier. that way, a glance can never destroy or blow up a tank, but still does stuff without glancing a tank to death with shitty str 6/7 weapons.

what do you guys think? would it be a worthwhile experiment to see if we like this method more when we play?

That's how the vehicle table was done before (5th edition?) You could still glance it to death but you had to strip it of all weapons & immo it.

I dunno I actually like the HP system. The only thing that is irritating about it is cheap vehicles giving up first blood. Which is really more of a problem with first blood than the HP system. Otherwise you go back to bunkerhammer from 5th edition.

everything Tom just said.

vehicles are in a good place right now.

low av tanks should be fairly fragile. they mostly just get marginalized due to FB.  same goes for dreadnoughts.

My 2c

I dislike the HP system, but at the same time it brings balance.

The glancing hits @ -2 to the roll, sounds nice, but still doesn't account for melta-weapons on open topped, those could still BOOM them in a lucky shot.

As the other say too, yeah FB sucks, I think the balance is still there.
