little truck mod project
not 40k related, but i figured i'd share what i did to my truck today for the auto enthusiasts among us; today i changed out my headlights and bumper lights:
Low Beams:
high beams:
with the CCFL halo wired in:
with both sides mounted and turned on:
and the set turned off:
with my hazard blinkers turned on:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152568091061224&l=5305427439939406509
and with just a turn signal turned on:

so nice to see you can be relied upon to be an insulting little chode, bidyk.
does your poor self esteem feel better now that you've insulted me and what i drive?
go be a dick somewhere else man, that's just a prick thing to say to someone about their truck.

Very nice how long did it take you to get all that together?

Re: little truck mod project
hmm, about an hour or so? i think? there was some tabs in the back of the lamps to guide things into place and keep the assemblies from shaking when on the road, and the signal lights were fighting with me allll the way. spent most of that hour getting them all to line up just right so the snap clips would lock into place to secure them.ShadowDisco wrote:Very nice how long did it take you to get all that together?
the CCFL halo was pretty easy; you just splice them into your parking brake lights (the yellow lights that always run when the vehicle is on) since my truck has the signal lights double as the parking lights, there was 3 wires instead of 2; ground, parking, and signal. so i had to use a volt meter to find out which was the parking wire, then i spliced the wires together.
these had a 'little' more bulk to the rear of them than the factory units, so the headlights needed a little more pressure to push them in far enough for the fastening clips to grab hold.
chevrolet is nice to work on because most of the parts easily pop off in whole sections for replacement. if you were to do this on say, an import, some of them can be more of a hassle. the older ford focus models from the 90's were sometimes difficult to even change a bulb, let alone the entire lens assembly.
being 14 years old, the lenses needed replacing since they werent clear as they used to be, so these were a nice upgrade to the truck and add more pop. and now that i have both the front and rear lights replaced, my truck will stand out more at the mall since theres quite a few other red 4 door blazers in the city. i know there's 2 other people that live in the confed area like me who also have a red one, so this makes it easier for the wife to tell if its me she sees driving down the road.

actually your right, it wasn't very nice. My apologies. that is the kind of jibe you make in person. with a smile...
Seriously though. Was the upgrade a kit or a do it yourself job? there are still a ton of vehicles being sold these days with old style lights.

Re: little truck mod project
apology accepted; being that i read it at midnight, i was quite upset and offended by it.
these are complete kits. you just remove the entire light assembly from the vehicle, and then this slips in the same way the old ones would. i buy my stuff from carid.com
you go on their site, tell them exactly what you drive, and you'll 'only' see parts in their store that will fit your vehicle.
example time!
paz drives an elantra. here's what i found on the site. their images are copyrighted, so i cant image link, so you'll have to click the links and goto the product page:
these headlights are the same brand mine are: Spyder black projector lights with LED
or if you're feeling rich: anzo black ccfl halo projector lights
and the factory replacements: my gf hit a lamp post
here you see all the taillight choices: look at my shiny butt!
when looking for the fancy lights, i'd keep this tip in mind; if you decide on halo lenses, spend the extra for the ones that say CCFL. the others are just a ring with a couple LEDs in them, and you'll get dark spots in the ring cause the lights dont illuminate them fully. CCFL is cold cathode flourescent lighting; there's a gas inside the ring that catches the light and lights up the entire ring. if you want that look the BMWs have, buy the CCFL.

For a split second I thought that said "racism font" and I was all, "This isn't where I parked my car.".
