Drop Pod
Hey all.
My June contribution will be to finish off my Drop Pod.
I got this thing from a buddy and it was only like a 1/3rd assembeled (if that). I had assembled it in 2 halves so I could prime the inside black, and the outside white. I tell you, reassembling the two halves of the pod were very difficult, much bending, prying, and pushing but I did manage to unite the two halves.
Before I did that though I had painted the interior of the pod as it made it SO much easier to when it was open.
Regardless, after I pushed the two sides together I just left the pod.
I am hoping that I can use this pod as my entry into the competition.

Re: Drop Pod
good stuff; looks like you figured out your red for the big panels nicely. i like how you did your blood drop too, makes you think its actually curved instead of the flat symbol from the kit.
Re: Drop Pod
Yeah.
Though I really started getting lazy with the edge shading. Out of everything I had to paint thus far, I think this pod is up there in my least liked/enjoyed..... And it's not even done yet.
I thought it was done until I was looking through the final pictures I took and saw some glaring imperfections, mainly some cleaning up around my blood drops, and some details on the storm bolter inside. Otherwise it's done enough. I also wanted to magnetize the doors, but I fear it's too late. The dang thing doesn't fit well together, and I don't know if magnets on the doors would help it actually keep the doors closed. I'd need some hefty magnets, the wee ones wont cut it I think.
My death company drop pod has to be done next, though that one is more black so should be a bit easier to flub.
I'll be cleaning this pod up tonight then and will get final pictures posted later this week for my entry this month.

Re: Drop Pod
Use a 1/8" magnet. I used one pair on each door and it's strong enough to keep them in place

Debating if I should waste my time drilling them in, or just mount them right to the door.... I'm so over this Pod now it's not even funny...

Re: Drop Pod
If you already have the bit/magnet they are one of the easiest things to do. The only time I find them irritating is if I need a weird sized magnet or can't find a good spot to drill into for mounting.
