Drop Pods

So... can someone comfirm something for me.
Been reading that apparently Deep Striking Vehicles now count as moving "combat speed" the turn they arrive...
Meaning for non-fast vehicles that they can now fire 1 weapon at full ballistic skill?

If this is true, No more snap firing my storm bolters on the pods the turn they come down.
Also, Means I can look at deathwind launchers as being useful...? Turn 1 deepstrike and drop a pie-plate on a unit? Yes please.

Excellent.
Now actually debating if the 20pts for a Str5, 12" large blast is worth it on a pod. People (still) tend to ignore the drop pods unless they are on an objective. Could be worthwhile, though 20pts still seems a little steep. May have to run 1 or 2 just to see.

I generally use them to get in the way of stuff and give cover beyond just delivering the goods. Ask Tom about his wraithlord that was stuck in a triangle of three pods and had to smash his way through or go around, hehe.

I never expect them to last more than a turn. so 20pnts for 1 str 5 ap- blast? i'll pass. your milage may vary.

Haha, nice.

I like to try and give cover too, almost a necessity as sometimes the cargo can get pretty vulnerable. Never have I used them to blockage an enemy unit though. LOL. I'd imagine that a wraithlord could cut through them pretty efficiently though, CC or otherwise. I like that my pods can score now, and look for an opportunity to do so lately.

Never hurts when you are always on target!

Wraithlord had more important things to be doing rather than targeting drop pods. Like the little buggers that jumped out and were waving a melta gun at the rear of my wave serpent.
