500pt Guard
30 Vets
3 Chimeras
2 Missile Launchers
2 Plasma Guns
1 Lord Commissar.
The idea is that the 2ML squads can camp on objectives while the Commie and Plasquad can advance on stuff. I'm pretty intrigued by the commissar's 1 in 3 chance of being able to issue orders due to the new warlord traits.

Commissars are fairly crap now. Why would you use them when you can take a 0-3 priests and give your units Zealot? (fearless + hatred) + war hymns. Can get 2.5 priests for the price of one commie
Much better to take a command squad and guarantee orders
also, meh on chimera vets, unless your actually playing a 500 point game, they are just boxes that blow up and kill the dudes inside them. if you cna convince someone to play a 500 point game, then the army you describe is actually not too bad

Ya haha, my goal is to get some infantry built and painted, and this way I have an incentive to get 30 dudes and their rides done, and then have a playable list at 500pts. I'm actually kind of a fan of low pt games. They're faster paced and really make you think about movement and strategy.

I do too, but the game doesn't tend to be balanced around small points games. It can easily become one-sided if you and your opponent are not on the same page.
That said it can be a blast since individual models are so much more important in low point games. Makes for more of those "do you remember that time my last dude with a lascannon blew up your land raider!" compared to high point games.

A few of did a campaign when 6th started, and did 500pt games to start (four ppl could show at the den at 8 and play round robin, by midnight). The games were fun, but basically decided by turn 2. As an example, a tooled up necron overlord attached to a big warrior squad w/ an ark is basically immortal.
