'Nid Special Characters

Post  Aegwymourn on Tue Jan 14, 2014 6:38 am

Huh, I think all the special characters may have lost some special rules (except for the ones gone wholesale).

Deathleaper lost two (shrouding and the ability to re-enter deepstrike which I thought was huge). Now he is much easier to pin down and kill to get that d3 leadership back, if it is important. Since he has to hide somewhere he can't get shot/assaulted.

Swarmlord's biggest hit was losing access to biomancy. Also his 18" synapse is now his warlord trait, so he sort of losses some flexibility there. I think the biggest worry is getting hit by one of the many sources of ID or ending up punching himself (MSS/Hallucinate).

Old One Eye just has regular regeneration, which is kind of sad. His alpha pack leader thingy is neat. I'd say he is probably the most improved? Also his Berserker rampage thing is pretty awesome.

Cost wise old one eye isn't super expensive compared to a normal fex with same wargear and if he could group up he would be fine but he's in the precious hq slot. Swarmlord also lost his reroll invuls perk which is a massive change.

How cool would it be tho, to take old one eye as hq, and 3 units of 3 fexs, plus tyrants and guards for synapse?

That would be a carnifexzilla list of doom, 10 carnis?

Can you hide a zoe/venomthrope behind a carni? If so cheapish cover/synapse. Thats what 36 t6 wounds to chew through. Just on the carnies?

Shoehorn in a Crone to kill Heldrakes and you're good to go.

@Mark - why would you care about Heldrakes if all you had were Fexes, Tyrants and Warriors? What's a drake going to do, kill 1 warrior?

Vector Strikes hurt on MC. You basically take d3+1 wounds.

(d3+1)*2/3

You're S7 vector strikes wound on a 3+ against T6 | With a slightly above average roll, you can kill a 'fex in one turn.

If you vector strike a Fex brood you're also showing your backside to a unit that has twin-linked str 6 guns that shoot ~6 times per guy. All in all I think Nidzilla will be an army that turns a few of the prominent existing lists on their respectives heads, problem is it won't beat Tau Sad I looked at my lame Farsight list (has 0 flyers, 0 Riptides, etc.) and I still think I'd have zero problems with Tyranids, missile pods are just too good!

By my numbers an individual fex has ~20% of causing a glance and a ~40% chance of causing a pen. With 3 of them the likely outcome is a glance and a pen. Of course they can't shoot til the turn after the drake comes on.

Of course, this just underscores the fact you have to plan lists around the possibility of one model.

You can't vector strike a fex if you can't land on the other side of him.

If only some army was good at covering table space with low cost bases.

If we keep comparing it to tau eldar , it is just going to be a Codex creep all over again.
We should prob compare it to the other 6th codexs and see how it stands up, cause taudar is just stupid good right now.
