Keep in mind, because Zandrek's ability requires LOS, you can't use it out of the Barge.

Yeah, he has to see you to strip you, as it were. No LoS is needed for him to hand out USRs, though.

True. Dishing out Tankhunters to a Night Scythe makes it pretty effective.

It was just brought to my attention that this gun line is special, because it is full of guns that shoot lines.

Now if you really wanted to step up the liney-ness, you shoehorn in Imotekh somehow!

While tempting, this is a shooty list, and with the amount of AP 1 and 2 it throws around, I'd rather not be granting cover saves.

Just checked up on the artillery rules, as the Sentry Pylon has a rule that modifies the BRB's artillery stuff, it seems that artillery can not shoot at all in a turn which they have moved, nor may they LoS. This is a good thing to know.

After some playtesting today, I think the Nemy/Oby gimmick is a bit too far into gimmick territory for a competitive event, not to mention expensive. There is another named dude I haven't tried out yet, though.

I think with a little more playtesting, the army could have done well as it was. i wouldnt bother with moving the Pylon, its range is already considerable. and if your opponent doesn't give you targets, well, your controlling a tremendous amount of tabletop.
The only thing, and we spoke about that after our game, Tom, is keeping the eye on the prize and playing the mission, Which i admit with BAO style, is a juggling act. all of your unit selections are solid. obyron's telelport gimmick will definitly take some playtesting. Honestly, i think you were over thinking it. run nemesor up, bounce obyrons unit into your enemies face, and blast the shit out of something juicy. aegis line or no, you shoulda been in base to base with my IG units on turn 2. obyron would have eaten them up.

Tohlok fixes my reserves, though, which had been an issue for me in both games, and the aegis gives the footie blob a much needed survival boost. That, and a quad gun manned by someone unaffected by night fighting is pretty solid. He also makes my already durable armor even more so with d3 IWND.

You need to be able to keep your artillery piece stationary, and use it to control the battlefield. It needs to be able to shoot every turn.
20-man blob squad will be durable against most armies, your only mistake against me was not realizing the volume of S5AP4 shooting I had at my disposal. Coughing up first blood due to me blasting away 20 warriors with two models is painful. Putting your Ghost Ark in front to grant a cover-save might've been a better plan. (5+ or 4+ instead of 6+) Although, if you'd made your toughness test, you may not have lost those last 3 warriors.
===
The nice thing about not using Zandy or Oby, is you're not prone to overuse gimmicks, so there's that.
List was fine, small tactical mistakes against both Mike and I will cost you a game 90% of the time.

I think I suffered a bit much from "new toy syndrome" in both games. Another point from playing against your lists though, Mark, is Tohlok and is squad are immune to blind.

Re: Creeping Death: A Necron Gun Emplacement -- 1750
Still doing some more fiddling with this list. It is by in large a medium ranged list, which didn't work in my favor at the tournament. My hope is that the Scarabs will help me dealt with that issue, closing in on the back ranks on the opponent to get at what my guns can't. Another thing this (re)introduces to my list is some solid psychic defense, which has been sorely lacking. It also pushes more of a Canoptek them, which makes sense for a force led by a Cryptek.

Yeah against me you had a very hard time closing in the first few turns. The ADL + quad gun also did not work quite as well as it could have.

With that board it would have been a task to find the right spot to put the quad gun on that deployment, and my biggest issue was simply not knowing what to do against castling Orks. I mean, it just doesn't happen! I also had a great deal of issue with 20-40+ ignores cover heavy bolter shots coming at me each turn that day. I am really tempted to swing back to my "assault in a can" list for a while, and finally build/paint those Sisters Repentia I grabbed a while back as Banishers.

Re: Creeping Death: A Necron Gun Emplacement -- 1750
I got lucky and rolled two "Perfect Timing" powers. Tzeentch's Flickering Fire is very devastating to Necron Warriors. | Scarabs wouldn't've helped. 5D6 to 6D6 of those shots are S6 AP4, potentially ignores cover.
Grey Knights with that Psychic shield or other psychic defense would do it. (-4 LD means a lot of my powers are on a 6, some on an

Ah, but that's where you're wrong Mark! If you're in melee with Scarabs, then you don't get that silly volume of shots!
I'll post up a GK list later, playing around with Stronghold a touch. Would the Promethium Pipe segments be roughly the same scale as the Aegis sections, you think?

Without models or guidelines its one of those "be reasonable" situations. It is the same thing for the Void Shield Generator.

I'll scale it off the Aegis, then, as that is an established multi-section barricade. At the very least GW outlined the dimensions for the obstacles you can purchase as an upgrade.
