So I was going to save the start of this for when we got another Circuit challenge but just couldn't help myself. Today I had the creative juices flowing and wanted to build a new Chapter Master for my Black Templars. This first one is going with the obvious Eternal Shield + Thunder Hammer. I had picked up the new vanguard box set with the intention of making a couple of characters and possibly some other random stuff.

So first up was to make the storm shield a little less standard. I greenstuffed in the top two corners to make the shield more square. I am going to green stuff the bottom down into a tear-drop to make the shield look more like a kite shield. Hopefully I will be able to find some more black templar bits to toss on there. Although from my Grey Knight boxes I bought I have a bunch of purity seals so that might be handy.

Next I picked out a decent head/arms/chest/legs for my Chapter master.

Then while I was looking at him I realized that the vanguard box does not come with regular backpacks. After a bit of bit digging I managed to find a replacement. However it would be a bit of a waste to not use those nice new jump packs (I have a half dozen old pewter ones from when GW used to sell them). So I decided to magnatize him.

So here he is mostly finished. I have the Thunder Hammer in place, but want to wait till after I am done painting before I get the shield on (nevermind the fact that I have quite a bit more greenstuff to do on it.

Now what do you guys thing of me using greenstuff to just go over the whole front of the shield and putting something more suitable in its place? I dunno if I could pull it off without making it silly thick. I do have a pretty rad sword+chains+BTsymbol I could put there if it was tall enough.
