Coteaz Assault Core -- 750 points
Time to get the mood in here a bit lighter with a list I was discussing with Tom M after our last match.
HQ:
Coteaz. 100 pts
Troops:
Warband -- Death Cult Assassin (Sword and Axe load out) x10, Crusader x2. 180 pts
Warband -- Bolt Gun Accolyte x5, Razorback, Psybolt, TL Assault Cannon. 110 pts
Elites:
Tech Marine. 90 pts
Heavy Support:
Land Raider Crusader, Psybolt, Multi-Melta. 270 pts
750 points on the dot.
Coteaz and the Tech Marine join up with the Assassin squad and roll around the table in the Land Raider, ideally assaulting something on turn 2, while Razorback and Co. provides fire support, possibly gunning for an objective. When the Assassin blob charges, Hammer Hand pops twice (once from Coteaz, once from the Tech Marine), and Coteaz will most likely also be rocking the Divination Primaris for lovely, lovely rerolls. Against anything that isn't a vehicle, a TEQ, or has initiative 7+, the Assassins swing with their Power Swords, for 40 Str 6, AP 3 attacks on the charge, otherwise they swing with the Axes, dropping to initiative 1 and swinging at Str 7, AP 2, hoping that the Crusaders help them weather a few extra hits.
At higher point values, if used as a Primary Detachment, you can add in a Librarian to put Might of Titan into the mix, while Coteaz goes to babysit some servitors. This results in Str 7/8 Assassins with an extra dice of pen against vehicles. Alternately, the list can be more or less left as is and used as an ally module.

Yea I remember us discussing this list and when you run the numbers on it (especially at such a low point value) its rather astounding. Admittedly if you can kill the Land Raider the squad will dissolve like a wet Kleenex. Would be interesting to see how it'd match up.

Re: Coteaz Assault Core -- 750 points
I toyed around with this idea previously with a Strike Squad and Halbreds, but it left next to nothing for points for the second troop choice. Also, as a dedicated melee strike squad the Death Cult Assassins are simply far superior to the basic Grey Knight. 15 points points nets you 2 base attacks, +1 for two weapons; where as a basic Grey Knight is 20 points, plus 5 for a Halbred to bring them up to the same initiative, but with only 1 attack each, or 2 on the charge. Already you have, for 10 points more you get half the attacks and no on the fly AP 2 response. While the Grey Knights have the option to Force Weapon someone to death, the Assassins are less likely to need to fall back on it, by virture of just straight up murder-killing whatever they charge. The 5++ on the Assassins and 3++ on the Crusaders also gives the squad the ability to weather out against hits that would otherwise ignore Power Armor, though not giving as much of a boon against AP 4 and worse. Having 12 dudes at 180 points as opposed to 10 dudes at 200 doesn't hurt either.
On the flip-side, though, is if they get de-meched a turn too early, they are far more likely to get swiss cheesed by bulk shooting from enemy troops.

It also looks like I'll get to take this little list for a test run as an ally module this Sunday.

How are you getting double Hammerhand if Coteaz takes Divination? IIRC you can't mix and match codex powers with the rulebook ones. If Coteaz takes Divination then you lose Hammerhand and his other one (psychic communion???).

Re: Coteaz Assault Core -- 750 points
Bah, upon closer inspection of the Grey Knight FAQ, it's only Librarians that have Hammer Hand permanently locked in; with Coteaz swapping out as normal. That must have changed in the FAQ before last, as it used to just have a single paragraph where you could not trade out Hammer Hand, it was just locked in. That would still put the Swords at Str 5 and Axes at Str 6, which is enough to hurt most MC's on a 4+, so nothing to scoff at. Adding a Librarian with Might of Titan would still take those Axes to Str 8, AP 2, with Armourbane without the keyword.

Aaron was wanting a 2000 point game tomorrow, so I figured that was as good as opportunity as any to fit such an expensive ally module into a list. Here's what the bugs will be facing.
