Bizarre chaos list

Heres an odd list Im going to try out tomm night in an 1800 point game.

Kharn
Nurgle chaos lord wth terminator armour and burning brand

Plague marines w/ 2 plasma
Khorne berserkers with icon of wrath
Cultists

3 terminators w/combi weapons and land raider

Heldrake

Vindicator
Predator (all lascannons)
Landraider


Lord with plague marines in one raider, kharn and zerkers in the other. This list is alot about patience, sit back and shoot with the vehicles and then start to push up once reserves bwgin to arrive.

Do i think its great... Not at all. But.. I have a khorne landraider and a nurgle landraider and i want to give it a whirl.

No easy kill points.. So i got that going for me. Ive played with two raiders a couple times now and i really like the firepower they bring.combined with the predator. Im opting for the vindi this time opposed to a couple oblits.

Ill report how it went tomm night.. I think ive got blood angels as an opponent... I think.

Do your plague marines or khorne guys start on foot?

Ill start the plague marines on foot.

I just want to work woth the dual raiders a bit and see hoq it works out.

I also want to try out a defiler.. Ill prob wait for a 2000 point.game though. The heldrake has been really sort of wishy washy.. I keep taking it.. Waiting for it to shine but its.170 price tag is getting a tough hurdle to overcome. I m really thinking a unit of khorne raptors with meltas would serve me better.

I might actually go the route.of the ignore the sky completly theory .. *shrugs*

I just need alot more games in.. These kids sure take up the hobby time

Wouldnt it be a nice little addition if jump troops could skyfire in a turn they used their packs for movement.. Short range guns sure for jumpers.. But a handy little rule.

I thought you said the Heldrake had been performing well? Would you be up for a game next week Robyn?

It comes in.. gets a shot off.. and then dies .. usually.. hehe. I had one game where it lasted to the end.. it hasn't its points quite yet.

Hmm.. I was just thinking Mark... when I played you and the heldrake came on and hit your Destroyer Lord and crew.. could he have focused fire only on the armour 3 guys.. I was just thinking about the other day... That was only one of a few mistakes I made that game.. damn searchlights

I'm pretty sure focus fire is only for cover. Those flamer hits will go on the closest model. The turn the dragon comes on you could choose an oblique angle to get some of the squishier guys off to the side.

He got two Praetorians, the the destroyer lord tanked the rest.

He could have moved up a bit further, then killed 8 immortals

Ahh.. Yeah, yeah. For a sec in my mind i thought id be able to focus fire a specific armour save.. But yeah.. For sure its cover save.

Yeah.. That wasnt a good choice at all for the Heldrake. Must of been a panic decison with the destroyer lord abput to hut my lines and no answer for it.. There was no logical reason at all to not shoot the immortals.. Hehe.

Sorry for the delay in full confirmation Tim, just waiting to see if I'm playing in Mark's tourney or not. If I am playing, my times going to be a bit tight next week.. if Im not going, I'll have alot more time.

Played this list tonight and it worked decently. I ended up going up against Nids. I did get the advantage in that it was purge the alien (kill points), with hammer and anvil deployment. He didn't have a crazy list by any means.. Tervigon, Mawloc, Flying Tyrant, walking Tyrant, Carnifex, Doom of Malantai, genestealers and lots of gaunts.

He didnt have anything to crack av 14 save for two str 9 blasts... so the lascannons were able to do some good damage on the first turn despite a 3+ cover save from night fight. The second turn alot of stuff got close and in my deployment zone from reserve, and I was able to kill almost all the big things by the third turn. Kharn got Cosmic Fate (reroll armour saves) after taking down a brood lord which made things even uglier. I didnt make any mistakes or forget anything this game (Searchlights!) and made good choices which helped .. the Heldrake was toasting things up real good.

The one thing that happened which I just looked up and realized was wrong .. was when the plague marines charged a carnifex. I shot him up with plasma and bolters going in, doing 3 wounds. I was thinking, hey, plague marines on a mawloc or carnifex is a great matchup with poisoned weapons and feen no pain. So I charged and remembered I had to issue a challenge.. which I did with my chaos lord. He did a wound, I did none. The next round I killed him luckily.. but I was thinking what a big mistake that was.. keeping my plague marines out of combat because I challenged.. BUT.. I just looked it up now and realized fexes arent characters.. I knew I should of looked it up sooner.. doh.

I'm thinking about altering up the terminators though.. 3 combi meltas just dont have a good punch for me. I really miss taking 2 combi flamers and a heavy flamer...

I'm going to keep playing the list a few more times though and see how it pans out against the other armies. them. I think it'll do against soem lists, but suffer big time against others. Having 5 twin linked lascannons is alot of help and Ive been fnding I can usually get first blood pretty easy.. unless your facing necrons in night fight and forget to use your damn searchlights.. which I did not forget tonight!

Shooting him with plasma going in is cheatery. That's a rapid-fire weapon sir. Or did you mean you softened him up with another unit's shooting?

was going to say the same thing. unless they are relentless, or they had pistols.

edit- nvm. i ish stupid

Plasma pistola, bolt pistolas.. and a land raider shooting him with a regular bs lascannon and a snapfired heavy bolter.
