Say ....

BS 4
AV 11/11/11
2 Twinlinked Autocannon or 1 TL LasC
Hover mode option

I'm just throwing out numbers but what's fair? 100-125?

I would say somewhere between 125-140 depending on weapon selection and if it was a fixed forward or turret mounted weapon.

Basically I took a TLAC dreadnought and considered the greatly improved mobility that it would have, and then extracted a rectal numerical figure.

Any other special rules to it? Transport capacity, or gun cutter type thing? As a gun cutter that seems about fair to me.

I'm assuming fixed forward, no transport. Think of it as a SM fighter.

Oh and I forgot. 2 HP.

110, that'd bring it in line with the dakkajet. +1AV -1HP, 4 S7 AP4 twin-linked shots..., compares well to 9 BS2(3) S6 AP4 shots.

So.... if I add 12 man transport capacity (including termies) and made it a DT that'd drop it to 100 even? (NightScythe?)

JK looking at a hypothetical baseline. This would be a pretty basic model. Its a flyer and covers your anti air with pretty established weapons (its basically equal to the Aegis line quad gun). AV for flyers seems to be 10-12, with 11 being average.

Comparitively, the Nightscythe and Valkyrie are WAY undercosted, and several are paying points for stuff they will basrely use (Stormtalon armored ceramite, I'd rather it was a 15-20 point upgrade)

I think you have to start with the hell talon, which is 10/10/10/2 with 2 reaper auto cannons for 125 points. Add points for 1AV and Hover and cargo capacity to taste. I'd say for a usable aircraft, you'de need to keep it under 150 points.

I think that these would be a lot better if they could pick up vector dancer.

I believe its 115, but I'm yeah, I'm adding +1AV and 12" of range effectively....

Offhand, I'd say it's roughly equal to a Rifleman. You can shoot at anything, but you're limited on damage to high AV (13-14), you're immune to small arms, but if someone has Skyfire/INterceptor you will not be long for the world. 125-135 pts?

Aeronautica lists at 125. not sure if it was cheaper in the older book. it is a little over-costed in any case. I dont know why the reaper pays a range cost for being twin linked, for some reason every imperial autocannon ever fielded is twin-linked as well.

it is a little over-costed in any case. as long as your hypothetical flyer doesn't have transport capacity, I'd say 135 is reasonable compared to other flyers available.

Its because chaos has long lost the technology of duct-tape. Their Imperial counterparts on the other hand just say "oh one gun, might as well duct-tape this other one next to it!" Razz

the fighter went up..10-20 points, and the bomber dropped around 60 points in the aeronautica book. the bomber also went from apoc-only to normal 40k. i think darren has a copy on the shelf right now unless someone got to it.
