Weathered Marine Pic's

Some people were talking about weathering models for the grim future where there is only war etc. I was cruising the gallery on CoolMiniOrNot.com and found this really, really nice example/inspiration of a wonderfully weathered miniature. I plan on ripping off the idea for the upright metal girder on the base myself. Anyway here's the pic. I have no useful info like how the results were obtained etc but I imagine the dude used a lot of weathering pastels for the aquila on his chest anyway....

I was going to try the weathered marines. I have been wanting for a l0ong time to go a different direction with my painting, and do something dark and gritty, as opposed to the flash. Here are a few more models that i have been using for inspiration.
