Chaos Theory: Terminators

Post  Lore Weaver on Mon Oct 15, 2012 12:45 pm

Here's what I'm arguing in favour of.

1. 3xMan unit with Combi-Melta. Deepstrike in and kill a vehicle, then be a pain in the neck until you die.
2. 4xMan unit with whatever, probably combi-melta, maybe some flamers, a mix of other things. Keep it cheap and effective
-- Bonus for the above two. Cheap, can always rally at full leadership.

3. 10xMan unit with Combi-Plasma and some kinda mark. Leave them all with Power Weapons. Maybe give them a nurgle mark. The idea is to deep-strike these guys in (aiming for within 12" of a target), and unload with the rapid-fire plasma and enjoy the killing. 20 shots, ~13 hits, 3 gets hot saves, and 10-11 wounds on most things. Should wipe out a squad, even a 5-man long-fang squad in cover.

Afterward, you've got 10 terminators with their 2+ save and power weapons. Maybe throw a chainfist or two in there, some melta bombs.

If I have Chaos nators, they are getting PF. Ask Commander James what happens when 20 PW dudes fight 3 Terminators. It isn't pretty.

What is the ~ cost of #3? Sounds nasty. Was thinking of something similar with Lysander and stern guard + drop pod.

112 for 3 combimelta. sucks the champ has to pay 2 points more for the combimelta over normal dudes. gear em with 2 axes n a mace then they can hurt pretty much anything.

Termies won't get the charge to often, Rage won't pay off every game.

Tzeentch gives them a 4++ save... I think un-marked, Slaanesh or Nurgle are the way to go.

Slaanesh opens up the FNP banner, which is awesome, Nurlge makes them T5, which is pretty darn cool.

That said, all those things cost points... The small 3-4 man unit should wipe out a vehicle and make their points back, then be terminators that your opponent has to deal with.

10 man combi-plasma with mixed power weapons... that's pretty rad.

Almost all off the marks point them out of being good anymore. In a game where the guy who wins is generally the one who can fit the most guns onto the fewest amount of bodies. (GKs) it adds up in a hurry. I do like nurgle and tzeench marks though. those marks work vs shooting, which is much more prevalent a scenario than CC and can be used against every incoming attack.

Remember, Chaos no longer accurately deepstrikes. Termicide units are much more of a crapshoot now. I'm not saying they're useless, but unless you have a real prestige target I'd consider walkin' them.
