Im coming around..

Sorry guys.. Im really starting to jive with the new book. I dont know why but im starting to like some options.

Juggernaut Lord aside.. Im trying to work on a list that utilizes some scary flamer attacks. Heldrake and a couple guys with the burning brand. The dimensional key is also intriguing. Not really for the scatter elimination.. But for the 12" dangerous/difficult terrain feature. Having two lords or a lord and a price each with ine is quite temoting.

Combining the new optoons with the daemon book for allies is givng me alot of fuel for thought.. Making a few lists and seeing what options the new list has compared to the old is intriguing.

Oh.. And master of deception.. Either from using ahriman or huron. Having a d3 outflanking berserkers in rhinos each game seems damn scary

Frankly it's nice to hear so positivity coming from SOMEONE.

While I don't play Teh Chaos, I simply want to build some of these new models.

Im taking the perspective of weve got more options than the last book.

We'll never go back to the beauty of the older one..

Artifact*. And I like the changes. My old list is pretty much the same and I have a scheme to use with the dragon to make it a pain to deal with. Str 7 vector is still nice and I think this codex will have some of those "do you remember when..." Moments. Abbadon gets spawned, Kharn gets eternal warrior, 2+ save, feel No pain and t5. Or that cultist who killed a sarge with his shotgun and becomes princed. I'm pumped for defiler proving why he is in the codex lol.

The defiler could turn out to be the hero. if you've only got 3 HS slots. getting the most of of the slot seems to point at him. and using as a Weapons platform that can tear somebody a new ass if they come close enough to try and melta him seems ok. if you keep him out of melta range, the 5+ invul and it will not die combined with 4 HP might keep him around for a long time vs certain armies.

No... Did you really correct my spelling? We have to be beyond the spelling correction thing on the forum. I ve mistyoing stuff for months when i use my phone.. Why pick it now?

The worst part.. I spelt it how its used in the chaos book.. I know how to spell the word.. *sigh*

Huh, it is spelled that way... Another word 40k broke for me. I'm a spelling freak but I'll try and cut it back. So you can take one of each artifact but just not duplicates right? Some are silly but bringing that murder sword could be fun to scare ic's. that flamer is downright nasty and the khorne axe is fitting.

some of the wording is very weird. i was getting excited about the maulerfiend having TWO magma cutters.

but if you look at the weapon entry its obvious that Phil expects you to only get +1 or +2 melta attacks. not +2 and +4.(which would have sold them 3 more fiends, btw

Yep.. One of each still isnt that bad.

I love the axe and i really like the burning brand. Id like the murder sword even more if it was a daemon weapon.

Im a bit dissapointed though they didnt have a plain daemon weapon. Just plain +d6 attacks.

The axe though is pretty damn awesome.

means that unless you take a Special character, you can only have one daemon weapon in your army.

You can still take the angry axe and the super flamer at the same time, just can't have multiples

Im also looking at a level 3 dp with biomancy. 2 abilities that heal wounds.. Ack. Get a bloodthister to hang out and maybe another mc.. They would eat alot of fire.. Especially if the same guy tgh 6-8.

I think someone else mentioned the biomancy dp here.. Im going to try him out.

The thing about the Heldrake Robyn is that it's not much use for gaining air superiority. With fliers dominating the current meta (not locally, but generally) Chaos has no answers for enemy fliers. A BS3 AP4 gun with 4 shots is no use, and str7 AP3 vector strike isn't much better. The Drake can kill a few power armour dudes, and strip a hull point or two off a light vehicle but that's it. That's your 170 points. And don't even get me started on flakk missiles. Complete waste of points. So the shiney new book will struggle with fliers just like all of the dusty old books will. Except the problem is they will struggle with fliers until another book shifts the meta away from them. Or you can just cave and take a Vendetta every game. Sigh...

Wow finally something positive about the new chaos codex. Blue Table Painting is just coming out with a battle rep, kinda getting the flava of the new dex.
Personally did some play testing with some of the new units vs my knights and I think its not to over powered and not under powered. But the drake vs Raven is kinda a no brain'er. But still looking forward to fielding my knights against the new dex. Should be lots of fun.

Might be some interesting ally options for Necrons. Kirby over at 3++ was talking about the "Sorcerer being the only HQ choice", even at lvl 3 ringing in at 105 points.

Taking a lvl 2 or 3 sorcerer with a Mark of Slaneesh and grabbing those swanky powers... Combined with close combat dudes in a Rhino (with Mark of Slaneesh, maybe an icon too), a Forgefiend for S8 shooty, and maybe some terminators.

You could probably swing that for 500ish points (3 termies, 2 combi-melta and a reaper auto-cannon | Sorcerer | Marines x 5 or 6 Rhino | Basic Forgefiend, or the AP2 blast dude... (Necrons lack AP2 shooty))

You have to take 5 termues for a reaper or hvy flamer now.

One of the small irritating changes.. But you can take meltas with 3 cheap bikes.

I hope gw has some new bikes ready because they are going to be selling a ton

:O my Farseers cost alot more than that! (granted they tend to make your head explode when you try to use your psychic powers so i guess it balances out after all ) sounds like alot of the characters are cheaper for what you get, i wonder if this will be a trend established by the new books, i could see it as a possiblity, after all boxes of warriors are more $ than blister packs of characters...

Also nice to see some positivity... finally! again i dont play Chaos, but i wanted to start a thousand son army in 5th so i might do that now with the new book in 6th. (wouldnt be for awhile though).
