Chaos Cultist Rumours

Dear God, if this is true, Cultists are ... AMAZING ... I can get 20 Cultists for less points than 20 grots with 2 runtherds.



10 Cultists with a Heavy Stubber seems good, so does 20 with 2 shotguns (70pts) or 30 with 3 shot guns (100pts).

20 Cultists with 2 Heavy Stubbers would be 80pts.

20 Grots... with 2 Runtherds is 80 points.

Lets compare.

Grots are S2 T2 I3 BS3 with 12" S3 shooting.

20 Cultists have S3 T3 BS3 with 24" S3 rapid fire shooting, +3 dudes with Heavy 3 S4 shooting. And a 6+ dirty shirt save. Seems fair.

At least it'll be expensive to collect. You can't mix-and-match CCW cultists and regular cultists, and you only get 9 non-leader dudes per squad in the DV box so... gotta do lotsa tradsies to field a unit of 30.

I think I'd run the 30-man unit with 3 heavy stubbers and Autoguns, I think that's a kick-ass backfield objective holding unit that can provide some valueable small-arms fire, effective at high-volume.

27 S3 + 9 S4 shots at 24", 54 S3 + 9 S4 at 12".

Whenever you roll over 30 dice for something, things generally happen. All for the low-low price of 115 points.

Wow haven't looked at the IG codex yet but I think cultist might be cheaper then regular guard. I know vets are 70 base ten man squad. Also I look forward to battling these cultist. looks interesting.

great unit to attach to Kharne as well. he makes them fearless and who cares if he lops off a few of their heads?

You can have 2 shot guns for every 10 models...and they would be the str 3 shotguns...so who cares

I am also going to go out on a limb and say that if they are 3 pts a mdel they will be LD 6 or less and probably either Ws, BS, S, or T 2


And Mark missed a valuable point: 100 cultists is 300 pts

still for a unit to plunck behind an aegis defence line and hold an objective all day long its hard to argue with the models/points ratio. or stick them with a fearless character and bam instant tarpit.

I know you've been away from the game for quite awhile now so you might not know that value is evolving. Value to points ratios are generally going up for new codex's, so don't be surprised if the above is true.

Also 100 cultists is more than 300 points. Gotta pay that extra 10 per leader so more like 340 for 100 minimum (assuming the max 30/squad). 300pts would only get you 90 Razz

all tooled up 400 pts ish....happy Razz

Yes things keep getting cheaper....didnt marines get more expensive though? (16pts?)

does include frag/krak which actually makes them cheaper by 2 points compared to 3rd edition ones.

Marines did get more expensive 4 years ago 4th to 5th codex. Besides getting grenades like Aegwymourn mentioned they also got pistols and just got better all round. They have some really good special rules. Especially in 6th.

yea the inclusion of chapter tactics makes them a lot more flexible/different depending if you buy a special character now. oh and ATSKNF is awesome now. rally and fire heavy weapons at regular bs, hello!

4 pnts per model for the first 10 and 3 pnts after that. what kind of equipment they can wear or guns they can shoot is largely irrelevant. personally i want them to be as cheap as possible. all i really want them for is ablative armor for Fearless HQ choices. I used kharne above. but lets replace him with a shooty chaos sorcerer. For 100 points you turn that fearless character into an scoring unit with 30 ablative wounds, some of which will probably get a cover save.. especially if that character is say... manning the quad gun and casting maledictions in the movement phase.

i agree, i wish either battle brothers for tau (sm/eldar) had a cheap as dirt troops i could use to hold objectives. I might have to suck it up and get some allies of convinece IG.
