3 or 4 games for Toon con?
Tooncon 40k Event Sept 30th
Alright folks I almost have my outline ready for Tooncon. Being the first go at 6th it will be pretty straight forward with all missions from the book. It will be 1500 points. Judging will be based on Battle points, Paint, and Sportsmanship. I am currently trying to obtain some more prize support, so the awards breakdown will be done shortly when I have the guidelines complete.
One question I want to pose to you guys is whether you want to play 3 or 4 games. The thing is, that time may be tight and we are still learning the rules right now. 4 games will be gogogo and 3 will allow lots of time and be more laid back. What would you like to see?
Besides Robyn running a great tournament, I know that last years tooncon was not to great for us (I was there). I think that will change for this year, they've committed more prize support ($120 for a sell out, possibly more spots too) and allowed me to seek extra support from elsewhere, so I hope you'll give this event another shot. We are the biggest miniature gaming community is Saskatoon and I firmly believe should be a part of Saskatoons only Con.

I think 3, I'd like to have some time to look around, since we're kinda having to pay admission anyways.

Im in favour of three as well. Its to bad we dont a definite release for the chaos dex.. I would of loved to have played it at the tourney.
Still vague on whether its middle or the end.. Although most reports are saying the end.

Thanks for saying the tournament went good.. But i have to disagree. Any tournament that allows Matt K to finish first is a complete failure in my opinion.

I'll say 3 games as well. 6th ed games seem to take longer, compounded by the fact that some people are still learning the rules for it.

I was pumped to do both events at toon con, but sadly I cant make the 40k since I have a fencing tournament I am obliged to work at.

I didn't play in last years tooncon, but I did check it out before I had to bug out, and from my observation ppl were a little worn out and it was 10 am lol so I will concure with the 3 game limit, and depending on the costs I might be able to swing playing in the tourney, seeing as I did so brutally bad at prairiecon in brandon this year lol

I think its only 20 for 40k.. Doubke check that though... For a bit extra you get access for stuff happening as well.
Ive already started making a bunch of lists.. 1500 is so tough.. its a great value but you really have to make sure every unit cpunts
My big question is daemons... Or gk.. Hmmmmmmm

Any special restrictions for this event? as in allies, no allies? fortifications, no fortifications? sacrificial donuts for the TO?

Re: Tooncon 40k Event Sept 30th
Did anyone else find it a little funny the toon con page has this biiiig thing on what you can or can't field and whatnot for fantasy, and then the 40k box just says 1500pt lists?
I hope you can get them to update the page to show your rules too for any entrants that don't know about our forum.

Re: Tooncon 40k Event Sept 30th
Well, Ryan just confirmed he was going to run it earlier this week.. so you'll have to give him a few days to get stuff together. If Ryan didn't volunteer to run, there's a good chance there wasn't going to be an event.. unless John could of twisted Beau's arm into doing it.
Once he has it figured out he'll send the info over to the tooncon guys to get it posted.. hopefully soon and not a week before the event.. But, I'm sure 90% of the atendees come to this forum anyways so should know the rules before they get posted there.
Fantasy firmed out their stuff a few weeks ago so they have a head start.

Re: Tooncon 40k Event Sept 30th
I'm sure they will. But I don't think that will be a problem. We have 12 slots to fill and a max of 16 (they will probably give us some of the warmachine tables) I really don't expect any players not from this site entering. Would be nice if there were...
On the #'s note. I spoke with Darren today about some extra prize support for the event. He has graciously offered $100 of extra at 12 players, and more if we get bumped up and sell out at 16. So, prize support is now $220 at 12 and possibly $310 at 16, not including some other items that are being donated.
