Kharne bubble?

Post  Rhaevyn on Mon Aug 27, 2012 1:49 am

Even with a new codex 60 days or less away, i cant stop Theory-Listing. I generally have enough models to field almost anything, and since my Zilla walkers list is horrible in 6th Sad ... maybe its time for something different.

One thing i'm constantly fielding lately is a lot of troops choices. scoring is almost more desirable than any other special ability in the 6 RB missions. In this list i'm trying to give my opponent a lot of AV 13/14 to stare at, and enough scoring that he will ignore the small unit sizes until late game where its too late. Generally, the two Land Raiders sit on objectives with the 5 man csm squads until the end and then they pile out. Say what you want about CSM LR's being a bad buy, they still cant be ignored. Plague marines stay in their rhinos as long as the can, pushing the edges and far side table objectives. Termicide does what termicide does.. Disruption.

Kharne generally hangs out inside a LR and dares anyone to come close. I may have to fit naked champs into those squads in order to protect Kharne from challenges.

I've given up fitting "ways to deal with flyers" into my lists. flyers happen. they shoot stuff, they fly away. They cost a bunch of points, they dont score, they dont contest. meh.

Kharne shooty list? the blood god cares not how the blood flows.

Chaos landraiders do have the advantage of being much cheaper then the loyalist counterparts..

Chaos vindicators woth possession are also pretty fantastic..

I have a similar list built strangely enough.. With 2 preds and a vindi.. And a bunch of nurgle marines.

Ive been leaning towards the same type of thing.. A saturation of high av vehicles and just scoring units. I keep hitting two problems though.. The chaos book is out right so i dont want to get painting modelling anything to.intensely yet.. And most of the stuff i want to use is all in heavy support.

Can Chaos Terminators take Land Raiders as dedicated transports?

If so, WOW, I can't believe I haven't done that yet!

If not you have 5 Heavy Support

Actually, he has an illegal list.

1 HQ, 2 Min.

Easily fixed tho.

Ahh.. At 2000 you have to include 2 hq and 4 troops?

Makes sense.. I just never thought about it.

If you choose double FOC you do, you can elect to stick with single FOC.

Chaos terminators can take LR as dedicated transports. page 94 CSM CODEX.

It is not a double foc list. Its a legal single FOC list.

Re posession. I think its a waste of points in sixth. You almost never get shaken anymore and the extra scatter isnt worth PAYING for.

Awesome.. Ive never picked up on that before. Ive always taken a landraider for berserkers.. and have even biuhht it terminators i think once before but never saw the dedicated transport entry.

Im still a big fan of possession.. For vindicators only though. Because the big boost they got in 6th.. I want to keep him firing every turn.. Worth it for the scatter but thats just my opinion.

Yes dt. If you use double foc. The full rules for a single apply to both lists.

100% agree, as a Necron player that barely rolls for living metal, I can vouch for the validity of this statement.

My Stay-Puft Slaneesh Pred will be staying in the box, or I'm not paying for the upgrade, one of the two.

What I will be taking is 3 Hellbrutes every game, because... I likes me my walkers.

We'll see what I get my hands on, but I've got two old Dreds that I'm fond of, so... likely I'll be taking those. Might have to put a new arm on one though.

Also, with some new models, I won't be too gimped with only one unit of marines and one unit of Noise Marines, as I can take 30+ cultists every game.

I'll need new bases for my termies though.

Im still on the fence on the hellbrute rules.
They are still av 12 hp 3 bundles of points that go down like a prom date to a brisk wind.

Im only mildly optimistic about them due to the inclusion of butcher cannons and double reapers.

You, sir, had a MUCH better prom than I.

Any chance those Hellbrutes have an invul?

Do the rumors classify them as Demons? If so hello Invul save. Would go great lengths to making them more durable.

do not believe they are classified as Daemons. Wishfull thinking really. its just a new name for an updated Dreadnought.

can mark them though, and give them big guns. though i'm not sure thats the best use for them. 3 attacks base.+ khornate rage (+2), plus rampage (+D3) averages 8! str 10 ap2 attacks on the charge. and with an apostle behind it to make it angry, hes going to blood rage a lot.

Being that my Deff Dreds have generally been making it to the ends of games, AV12 with 3 HP isn't that horrible.

Mark, they may also be that you have so many of them (between them and the cans).

I think with the new tables a Steel Legion army would be quite good.

OoooOooo. Nice sneak peek. Interesting to see that Chaos lords are going to mirror SM Chaper Masters with ws6/bs5 and bumped down to 3 attacks. Bummer that the Hellbrute is not a demon though and only 2 attacks base just like the SM dreads. Interesting that Cultists are ld 7/8, might make them a good tarpit unit if there is a way to get them stubborn like IG.

only 2 attacks base on the hellbrute.

I do find it interesting that you cannot "disarm" a hellbrute like you could a dreadnought. he has a powerfist that strikes at Init instead of a DCCW. So his Fist isn't a valid target for a Weapon Destroyed result.
