Tornadoes

Post  Planes on Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:01 pm

No, not minis or rules, or that one Tzeenchi looking thing from Fantasy. There is currently a long, thin, and intense storm system moving from Kerrobert through to Saskatoon that is spawning Funnel Clouds and Tornadoes as it goes. Just wanted to give a heads up to those that follow this forum, but may not listen to the radio or weather network recently.

Also, on an unrelated note: Pascal, you forgot one of your unpainted Necron Immortals at the Den. It's waiting for you beside the monitor at the front desk/counter.

Owner of my company sent us all home at 4pm, didnt want to have it on his insurance if we all got swept off to Oz... i mean he was worried for our safety.

That's not a tornado, it's a funnel cloud.

It was too cold yesterday and any of those cold-core clouds wouldn't've survived contact with the ground. Leave it to the media to not educate people about this stuff.

they were talking about them on Saskatoon homepage and weather network all day Friday; what we were having are called landspouts, not tornados; they're smaller than a tornado, and don't have the strength to go the distances a tornado will go, but hit with the same strength for the short time they touch down. but cause they're smaller and form very fast and likewise disappear so fast again, doplar has a very hard time tracking and warning of one about to touch. all they can do for landspouts is warn that this region has the right conditions for them to happen.

the watch was over the majority of the region west and southwest of us, like langham (our edmonton express driver had 2 touch down right south of him on the highway around 4:30pm) and kerrobert. the warning was for saskatoon, warman, and dundurn, but the warning was only in effect for an hour around 3-4pm

At least one did survive touchdown somewhere near Asquith yesterday. Had the funnel I was watching touched down, I wouldn't have been sticking around to take pictures.

one of our city pick-up drivers was loading up at Rimex and said he saw one straight off their dock on the northwest side of the city. Rimex is just north of the city limits off of hwy 16 past the CUC building.
