that list looks pretty cool.

your squad of veterans with sniper rifles; is that cause you want the rifles, or to be a point filler? if its for the rifles, i've been reading that ratling snipers are a better choice cause they do the sniping thing better.

other than that, i think i see what you're trying to do with the list and it looks like it should do well.

is the tourney allowing Imperial Armour rules? if so, you may want to read up volume 11, the doom of mymeara. there's a 115pt command squad in there that comes with a vox caster, standard bearer, and i think it was a melta gun, off the top of my head. the commander himself has some cool wargear, and he gives 3 orders per turn with a range of 24".

if your interested in reading the entry, i can post it in detail after work. i'm hoping to start a small guard force and given what it comes with for only 115pts, i think its a good choice for what it does.

To comment on the list. I like the revamp better. I think the sniper squad would have been kind of useless. 3 Things I would consider:

1. Give you commander a plasma pistol (little wound allocation trick) he can take the overheat wounds when you roll ones to hit, since he has three, that could be 2 fails before you start losing guys to that, and they can all fire out of the vehicle.

2. Ditch the regular russ and take one of the variants with rear armour 11. It makes a huge difference. I preferred russ is the demolisher, for the most part your opponent has to come at you anyways and the str 10 ap 2 will put the fear into any opponent. I always take 2.

3. 6 vet squads is a lot, in my opinion. I think you'd get the same results with 4 vets and more toys like tanks, sentinels, vendetta.

The Devildog has a Melta cannon. Similar but different from a MM.

Any Hellhound chassis can take a Heavy Bolter/Heavy Flamer or Multimelta as the front mounted gun. I debated a Hellhound w/ MM vs a Devilddog w/ HF for a long time.

Yeah I'd thought about that, my only issue with it is that the pistol only has a range of 12" and I'd rather be shooting from 24".

Yeah this is an idea I'm planning to try in the future but I like to do as much damage as poss at range then finish them off when they get closer.

It is a lot indeed. The only reason I've taken so many is for objective grabbing as scoring unites.

As did I, I considered a Devil Dog but wanted the extra Anti-Inf really. The MM is a "just in case" measure.

Ok mm is an upgrade ive never relly tought about useing them before so i read up to mush on a unit until i decied to use it. and Rayen i do read my codex but i dont go up 2 flights of stairs to check one thing.

i found this tactica while doing research for a guard army: guard tactica Dom, i suggest you read it. and dont get distracted by a shiny. the guy goes into detail saying whats good and bad in your codex, and why. he also gives examples of how to build and play the 3 styles of guard army; infantry, mechanized light armor, and tank-heavy.
