so, myself being a non competivie kind of player, there are some armies I really like to play. Mostly because of the the fluff they add or have. I have 7 armies kicking about and there are some I just like to play more than others. one of my favs is SOB. this is not becuase they have the top list to play. I think I like to play lists that are not convential. I also like to have options with what army to play and to be able to vary that army. So I collect a lot to be able to vary lists for any army that I have.

I gues my question is. Do you have a army that the fluff sounds like it would be fun to play but is really a non competvie army to play? An why you like to play that army.

I'll always have a soft spot for Tyranids.

I played them in 2nd, and twice in 3rd. (Yes, I have bought a Tyranid army 3 times). The last time I sold my 'nids I got into Tau.

I'm between grabbing 'nids and Eldar for my next army. But I'm still working with the 'crons for now.

I love playing with a giant mob of berserkers.. and khorning up the rest of the army.

I ve always been a fan of the Grey Knights.. but .. the new book just isn't doing it for me. I feel like there's just a few too many goofy things happening.

Dam I'm couldn't answer on that question... Well I have two loves. I got my Vulkan list (with the drop pod melta stern, 2 melta raiders full of termies and the thunderfire cannon). And my new love the Grey Knights. Love how a ten man foot slagging termy squad can do so much carnage. And the Purifiers in a Stormraven. Just kick ass.... But with the Vulkan list I have come to enjoy seeing an opponents face when I drop the melta stern beside one of his/hers favorite tanks, or mc's... Blahahahaha. And then they still have to deal with 10 termies. And the thunderfire cannon always cause' havoc. But then that Dreadknight with the greater sword is pretty bad ass... Dam couldn't pick between the two.

But I'm very busy this year so the chances of me building more gks or spacemarine this summer is... unlikely... Think I'm going to wait for Eldar to come out with the new dexs. Maybe start it after harvest, or after Christmass.

I have always liked the grey knights, but I did not want to spend the $$$$ on them when they were all metal models. I found the sisters, similar at the time to grey knights, still all metal but more afordable at the time. so I started small with a small force, I still like them even with the no love from GW and a WD codex. I cna only hope that they get a real codex in 6th. and besides who doesnt shudder when facing st celestine, one of the best HQs IMO. So I hope to play my space nuns more often.

Nids are really my style. I played Skaven in fantasy and they are the most similar army in 40k. I like randomness, funky stuff, and being different than the meta. Also swarms.

I later started Orks because I always liked them. Which is ironic, since I despise O & G in fantasy.

Nids in 3rd edition out of the rulebook looked cool at first but got really lame after a few games, as my friends got their codexes and new cool stuff, I was stuck playing the same crap game in and game out. I didn't variate my list because I couldn't.

I like the current nids better than any other edition's Nids due to the huge number of choices. Orks, I love meganobs.

I love my bugs. I started playing Nids back with the 3rd ed codex, and haven't regretted it. I like playing as The Swarm, and the conversion opportunities are endless on the big ones. And in spite of the current dex's terrible internal balance, you can still make some pretty decent and varied lists. They have also always played different than the metagame, regardless of edition, which I like.

And the polar opposite from the Tyranids, my Deathwing. I'm a DA fanboy, what can I say. I find the DA really show the grim darkness of 40k. And who can say no to an army of terminators?
