Chaos Decimator

Post  Rhaevyn on Mon Mar 12, 2012 1:08 pm

Rawr!

Pretty non-excited with this thing, other than with the conversions possible. the rules are pretty meh. 11 armor sides? Sad str 8, no DCCW? Sad two dice pick the highest for pens instead of Monstrous creature 2d6? Sad no fleet? Sad posessed ws/bs 3? Sad

The only real strength i can see from it is tearing off both arms for two Butcher Cannons (8 str 8 ap4 shots? yes please.), While retaining 2 Str 8 melee attacks... for 195points.(owe)

Awesome! I dont like the khorne dedication benefit.. +1 att on the charge?bleh.. The butchrr cannon is nice.. but bs 3 is rough.

Seems like a good balance between points and armour and weapons. +15 for khorne dedication is garbage though.

But.. a 5+ invul AND a chance to get up.. awesome. Im in.. lets order some!

its not a 5+ invul. it only works vs weapon destroyed and immobilized results. so wrecks and explodes are still wrecks and explodes. =x

If folks would let me play it, I'd order one for sure though. i likes me some big arse models!

I like it, although WS 3 BS 3 kinda suck. I like the idea of it. and if anyone wnated to use one I would let them play it.

the ws/bs3 is the tradeoff for daemonic possession. which lets it shrug off stuns and shakens. but yeah. its not so hot. i have the same issue with Defilers. Rawr, i'm scarey... except i cant hit the broad side of a barn lol.

All the multishot weapons make up for it though! Or just go hitty and flamey to avoid the bs3 issue. Posession combined with the save and getting up means it will be pretty hard to put down with damage results, you just have to kill it outright!

The nurgle power is pretty awesome.. Id love to have a nurgle one.. but itd look weird in my see of red. I think Id outfit it with a claw and one butcher gun .. keep it versatile. But thats just my preference..

Geez, Rob simple solution, just start a Death Guard army!!!Smile LOL I heard lotto will be @ 50 mil by this weekend....

Back on topic, that thing is falling into the realm of Possessed, Chaos Termies, Kasrkin, and friends (Awesome looking models with crap rules). I'd be inclined to call it a Chaos Contemptor. Or use him in a Tzeentch counts as GK as a Dreadknight.

Seriously, its bigger than a Dread or a Comtemptor, it has to be at least as big as a Dreadknight and its 12/11/10? Meh, maybe we can proxy it and see, it seems overpriced to me.

I think it seems priced reasonably fairly, maybe even with the usual FW pts markup. By comparison, my DW contemptor with Kheres cannon, plasmablaster fist and cyclone is 240. I do feel it could maybe do with "fleet" though, as a contemptor has it for some reason, and the legs seem to denote it's fast and speedy.

You can always give it the nurgle power and call it Khorne Robin. wouldnt be the first "counts as" ever done.

Buy it, paint it red, pay the points, call it whatever you want to suit your fluff.

Chaos is the only army in the game where the fluff rules the rules. blah! (insert old rant here)

I'm gonna paint up some green berzerkers of nurgle just to prove a point.

NOOOO! Dont do it!

I do have some nurgle stuff.. but its.. gross.

I'd have no problem running it without a mark. Id feel to dirty though saying it has the mark of nurgle.. then paint it up khorne style.

These are also experimental rules, maybe they'll switch it up. 15 points for +1 attack at all times.. ok. But just +1 when it charges.. blech.

given its FA 12, SA&RA 11, that means this guy's also immune to bolter fire, and cant be harmed in assaults unless your opponent has melta bombs, relic blades, power fists, or thunder hammers.

also, not having DCCW is hardly worth whining about; he starts with a pair of Strength 8 Lightning Claws! how cool is that!! its a power weapon, and it'll instant kill. what more do you need. and if you assault a vehicle, 4 attacks, +1 on the charge, even if you're rolling str8+ best of 2D6, your chances are...really good that you're gonna kick his tank's arse. if a single use hunter killer missile can ruin someone's day, 5 attacks that essentially equal out to 10 chances to penetrate his armor every assault phase sounds pretty freakin good to me.

if the wife-person decides she wants a nurgle one for her war band, you can be sure it'll be a melee one; those rules are just awesome. and the model is awesome. forgeworld is just awesome.

i know what would make this thing better. make it a fast attack choice instead of elites! i'll model roller skates for it.

I cant help but wonder if some of the rules arn't the ghosts of Chaos/6th edition future.

the pen rules are fairly wonky when compared to the standard rules you would associate with a model like this. Why would it not have "enhanced" DCCW's? or a standard MC's 2d6 to pen?

Even the Chaos Marks are fairly deviant from the current (or any) set of marks.

I'm surprised no one has touted the Tzeentch version with dual Butcher Cannons. You'll average 5 str 8 hits and it's immune to suppression...

thats actually the first thing i thought about Mike. except its 210 points.

And i think for that many points, i'de want the nurgle power to keep it firing/arms on. even if the TZ power would make it hit 10%(?) more times. hmm

Bastard!... now i have to buy one and playtest it.

$112 with 4 arm choices. och.

The more I look at it, the more I think of what an excellent iron warriors daemon prince it would make...

It also reminds me of the ABC robots from Judge dread. anyone else?
