So i'm looking at painting a Champlain model I have and I want to do a blueish highlight on the black armor. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this properly. I was thinking possibly mixing blue and black to get a darker blue or something along that line.

Absolutely! Another nice way is to paint on a darker blue and use the GW black wash to shade the mini down some. Thin the wash to about 1:1 wash/water and appl;y it to a dark blue in about 3 layers. It should be a translucent effect and look nice. Apply the wash to the mini without blobbing it on so it will dry evenly and it should work out okay. Next time there is a painting thing going on maybe we can get together and I can show you what I think would work.

That would be awesome, I'm not a very skilled painter. I just really want him to look good. I have had the model for awhile and have just never attempted hit.

A good rule to get used to is thinning your paint. If you're not already I'd reccomend taking a little bit of paint from the pot (or a drop or two if you're using droppers obv.) and put it on a pallete of some wort and mix in an equal amount of water. Mix it up, and keep mixing it together as you paint to keep the paint and water from seperating. Doing this little thing will keep you from getting coverage in one coat but doing 2-3 coats will keep the mini looking better. I'd try this out next time you paint a mini.

Cassius is kinda sweet. 125 pts for a T6 chaplain? Yes, please.

Which version do you have? The 4th ed variant has a bolt pistol, but the 5th has a combi-flamer.

I messed up the eye and said screw it for now. Other than that he looks just alright. The picture makes him look worse in my opinion.

Mini photography is a tricky thing! On your next mini I think you'll really like the result if you thin your paint a little bit. Good stuff!
