As a note, if anyone wants to do pizza again, I'll just collect $5/head at the start of tourney.

8 prizes for 12 players? Don't get me wrong, I always like your events Beau, but that seems a little excessive to me.

I could easily drop the Player's choice prizes, and players are able to win 2 of the remiaing 6 (So you could win 2nd overall, and best painted for instance). If anyone has other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Re: 1500 pt Tournament January 14th, 2012
I'd consider dropping 2nd and 3rd place. They are usually redundent because those slots are filled with the best general (for sure) and more than often best appearance, due to the high scores they get in those sections.

Oh I see! In that case you may want to change what I think is a copy/paste error as your writeup says "TEAM TOURNAMENT"

Although some people don't like doubling up prizes, I think it would be entirely acceptable to double up on best-painted and best-sport.
Also, I'm totally there.

i'm thinking i probably wont be one of the players, but i volunteer to be event staff and be this tourny's painting judge if you like, beau
Re: 1500 pt Tournament January 14th, 2012
Agree on the second and third place, unless you drop best general (which is also good). I like secret achievement-based prizes. They make for fun and cool anecdotes. Most kill points gained in a round, or most crushing defeat, w/e good or bad. They're like door prizes but with an attached story.

Re: 1500 pt Tournament January 14th, 2012
Tim: Those are going to be the door prizes, along the lines of the "Blood for the Blood God" prize @ the last tourney. Hoping to have a different one each round. (or actually, each table, as the table you are playing on will determine your mission/deployment.)
Mikey: Sure I could use a hand, and I'm sure everyone will be relieved that dude with a razorback w/ 6 different shades of blue won't be judging.

I may be able to make this tournament. Work does not have me scheduled away from home...I think. I do not have my calendar with me right now as I am just heading home from quebec city right now. I think I will have to sign up for this one. maybe my SOB will be played.
This sounds like it could be fun. I agree with not having 2nd or 3rd place but instead they are best general etc.

Re: 1500 pt Tournament January 14th, 2012
well im gonna prepare for the rage from ben on this one but "what about us tyranid players that want to use boneswords? Considering GW has yet to put out an official bonesword bit is it not possible for us to use these?" does that mean i would be required to take a weaker army for the specific purpose of meeting wysiwyg? Not raging or anything but would be nice to know.

Should have thought of that before you played filthy xenos, Randy....
no actually Nids are a perfect example. I'm not looking for "GW certified" or anything like that. I'm looking for a reasonable conversion or 3rd party bit so you aren't saying "Those scything talons are actually boneswords," or "That power swrd on my aspiring champion is actually a powerfist." For stuff like Harpies, and Tervigons, etc. Hey as long as we can tell it's not a carnifex.

I'll be using an old pariah model as a cryptic of eternity. The way he's painted makes it quite obvious.

Re: 1500 pt Tournament January 14th, 2012
I for one would have no problem allowing scything talons as counts-as boneswords. As long as his opponent is made aware of this before the game starts it is a non-issue to me. Come on guys, he's playing Tyranids for crying out loud! We allow people to use carnifexes as tervigons, etc. I don't see how this is any different if there's no bonesword model available.
