Warboss Lightnin' Klaw Stops Space Marine Expansion
This is a battle report from Friday night, 1000pts a side. Tom Vs. Matt
The scene for the battle is the oil refinery, this strategic asset also boasts an interstellar communications array and landing pad to get the fuel off world.
The Ork Generals
The Vile Space Marine Librarian
Unfortunately the Space Marine general was unable to stand still long enough for a picture.
The Mighty Orks
The Cowardly Space Marines
TURN 1
With the Space Marines arriving to the territory before the Orks they had choice of deployment, they elected a standard castle formation. This caused the Ork general to employ a kunnin counter tactic by deploying out of range of the enemy devastator squad and having his deffkopta's outflank. As a result Turn 1 was uneventful with both sides using the turn to get better positioning.
TURN 2
More positioning, no shots were fired, the deffkopta's had not got into position on the enemy flank yet and the Ork warboss awaited their arrival to make his move. One unit of trukk boyz unloaded to claim the com array.

TURN 3
The turn opened up to a round of space marine shooting, their devastators getting an extremely lucky shot through the pipes of the refinery and penetrating the ork force field and destroying the warboss's trukk. The rest of the space marine shooting resulted in another trukk, temporarily, unable to move or shoot. The Orks quickly reorganized themselves, the warboss's entourage loading into the empty trukk abandoned by the squad of trukk boyz from the previous turn. The looted wagon drove into firing range and the Ork deffkopta's flanked the space marines, coming into the battle right on top of their devastator squad. The 'koptas quickly flew into assault and the Red Baron used his powerful buzzsaw to carve the marines in half.

TURN 4
The space marines commited a tactical squad to counter attack the deffkoptas, unable to overcome their superior numbers the Baron vowed revenge and took off to fight another day. After some highly ineffective space marine shooting the orks started their turn by capturing the refinery, a unit of trukk boyz disembarked and climbed up to the control deck of the refinery while the warboss and his deadly mega nobz waited to counter attack any space marines that dared contest ownership. The lootas were finally able to fire at the Librarian's Rhino rattling its hull and temporarily disabling it.

TURN 5
In a desperate effort to contest the refinery the Librarian leads his squad out of their rhino and charges down field falling well short of their objective. The lascannon from the tactical squad hit and destroyed the looted wagon. On the Ork turn the loota's shots glanced off the hull of a space marine rhino. However the warboss led his nobz head long into assault with the Librarian. Clad in mega armor the assault marines were unable to harm the nobz until the seargent used his powerful lightning claws to tear open the armor on one nob and shred him to bits. The Librarian bravely squared off against the Ork Warboss, fortunately striking the warboss's cybork arm and inflicting superficial damage the warboss was able to bring his claw down and "Krump dat humee into da ground like a post". The orks won combat, blocking the space marines from contesting the refinery. (This was the most clutch moment of the entire game, with the warboss rolling a 5 for his assault roll and needing a 5)

TURN 6
The space marines, accepted defeat and castled their objective. The Ork warboss, realizing victory was at hand ignored the enemy castle and ran down and krumping the missle launcher tactical squad that had defeated the baron. The big mek loaded up in a trukk ready to make a contest move should the game go another turn, while the loota's punched a whole in the wall by destroying the center rhino.

Nice report Tom. On turn 6 it was just orks rubbing it in the hummies faces. From what I could tell, Matt did not play agressive enough. Matt's placement was poor, by placing himself in a position to only take/contest a single objective with a gunline type playstyle without enough guns. You have Rhino's Matt!

Awesome report Tom. I would have maybe fielded a full sternguard squad with a drop pod. But that is my opinion. Again awesome battle report.

Matt runs away...more news at 11!
While it is always entertaining to read a battle report that involves Tom's outrageous luck I can't help but wonder why Matt plays the same way in every game (40k, fantasy, bike-riding by the river...). All he does is hide and hope to win on the last turn!

Ya i realised after i deployed that i should have put the devs in the center terrain and posted up around them there

great battle report. Only problem I had where the crotch shots. Less crotch shots. Its better then scott resting his balls on the corner of the game table though

Then during the game you barely attempted to fix this. You had mobility. Except devs, who at that point had a 66% chance of getting screwed by the choppers. (After they were screwed by you)
