Lamenters
Gotta get 1500 points done for Tooncon coming up in less than a month. Lets see if I can do it!
I can't get good lighting. These tacticals are done but need to be rebased.
with flash
A couple of finished terminators
I got a lot more work to do. Back to it. Please criticize, no guarantees I'll fix it soon though. Not much time.

Re: Lamenters
That is a sharp looking squad! One minor tweek that I think would not take long to do is to add a small amount of gem effect or light spots to the lenses of the marines. It'll help make their eyes pop out I think. Very sharp looking work Ryan!
What are you doing on the bases? I kinda like the sort of colour they are now TBH.
How many mini's do you need to do?

Re: Lamenters
Thanks! And good luck as well.
@Scott - I did try an effect on all the lenses, either 3 shades of blue or red with a white dot at the end. It didn't really show in the pictures, my transitions maybe just aren't that good. The bases on the terminators are done and are from dragonforge designs. I have them for the whole army so need to move the tacticals to them. I gots 34 mans, and 5 vehicles to do in all.
@da bear - Yup, based off of the BA, I have a few of the BA elements scattered throughout the army. However, I will be using the vanilla codex for now.

Oh sure, I see it now in the pic with the flash. Esp. the mans on the far right. Well then... carry on! Really like it. You've got the strong contrasty visual of the chapter insignia and a nice smooth popping colour for the units on the table. I likes.

Re: Lamenters
Those guys do look great. I love the look of the yellow based arnmy, but I think the checker patterns of the lamenters when done right, which you have.. sure comes across pretty slick.
When these guys are finished up they're sure gonna show off on the table.. they look fantastic

Update:
Finished Terminators
Without flash
Sarg. He's apparently very pure.
Next to do, bases for the tactical's, tomorrow night.
What's better, pics with the flash or without? I dunno... Anyways, comments, questions, crits always welcome.

Re: Lamenters
I think the pics without the flash work a bit better..
Those terminators look awesome. Everything is very clean and crisp.. especially the the checker patterns and the highlights. I particularly like the color of the thunderhammers from the rank and file terminators.
The terminator sarge looks like he has the same haircut as me..
So, for the armour .. Im guessing you started form black primer, used the foundation yellow, added washes for depth and then did you go back to the foundation yellow to clean things add and added highlights.. or did you use a diferent yellow.. or did I get it completely?
I only ask because the transitions between the washes, base colour and highlights is fantastic..

Thanks Robyn
You got it pretty much exactly. Black base - Iyanden Darksun - full wash of Devlan Mud - Iyanden Darksun - Bleached Bone.

Re: Lamenters
Ok.. I wasnt 100% sure because the recesses are so clean..
Ive only painted one mini with Iyanden darksun, but it was alot of fun to paint.. dont know why though.. maybe it was just nice to be seeing a yellow going onto black primer so smooth.. or just painting a yellow which Ive never done in a big area.. or it could of been the incredibly strong fumes coming out of that foundation pot.. man some of them can be potent..

Re: Lamenters
Army Painter spray fumes, Foundation Paints = right up there with scented markers and sharpies.
OLD Foundation Paints and Wash = big thumbs down. They just smell bad, esp. the Washes.

Finished the Librarian. I've had this dude for a long time. Repainted most of him and re-based.

Looks like you'll have more paint on your models than me.

Re: Lamenters
Good painting, can't wait to instant death this character with a melta shot. Also, nice 'snow' scenic model stand, really makes it seem like he's standing in the middle of a desert oasis in the warm sunny desert of antartica, either that or the sun ALWAYS does shine on the empire, and no one else.
Can't wait to see this army in person, I'm sure the pics don't do it justice at all.

Re: Lamenters
I hope that's just the shitty lighting playing tricks because I sure didn't want the bases to look like 'winter oasis'.

I was making a "Is that a towel?" comment, the actual bases look great. I wish I could paint as good as you Ryan, that hour glass on the libby really impresses me.

Re: Lamenters
Your army is coming along nicely. Cant wait to see it all done and on the table top. I am really looking forward to seeing some pics of the vehicles especially the land raider when its all finished up. Is there still a realistic chance it will all be painted up for toon con on sunday?
My advice is to start pounding energy drinks now and staying up for all night paint sessions here until sunday. But also to stay away from large riding lawn mowers.

Re: Lamenters
Thanks Tom, it's a facecloth!
Good advice Dana. But you know how f'd up that made me last time. Energy drinks will do awful things to you. Realistically, I don't think it possible to finish the army to the standard I want. It will be there and with paint on everything, though. I have a list of excuses, but that's all they are, is excuses.
There def won't be anymore pics on here untill after the tourny. I have to spend all my time painting.

Re: Lamenters
Update. A couple of dreads. In my 10+ years of 40k, these are the first dreads i've ever painted and used. So far I've been decently happy with their performance.
First, Brother Elias:
Brother Korvus:
Together:
Tom, purple towel.
Lighting is gawd awful. Need to figure something else out for pics.
