HiveMinds WIP blog Empty ork paint

Post  Commander James of the Ul Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:54 pm

Ya they aren't bad. I am kinda working through the Black Reach orks my self. This is what a found work good for me.
1st prime black, 2nd first app of skin color snot green. or darker. 3rd dry brush goblin green.
4th colour of clothes, after dry brush with a light or darker colour ( if you want then dirty looking)
5th paint armour with a dark colour ( Boltgun metal) high light with brighter colour
6th detail Teeth eyes and other misc
7th put some littles stones or sand on the base. paint and dry brush with opposite earthly colours
glue it all together and re paint were you had to cut it out of the plastic tree. Once you get good at it an ork boyz should only take you two hours to one and half. Keep motoring looking good.
This is just a hint. This is what works good for me try it and let me know what ya think. later

ya for the skin on the boy cuz i hadnt done any other colour yet i went with dark angels green then i used snot green, with a thrakka green wash, and a touch up with snot again

and that boy for what ive done to it has taken me approx 45 minutes with drying time for washes included so for a mass produced scheme it shouldnt take me too long Very Happy

and thanx for the ctitique Razz

If I would point out anything to improve, I would say that the armor needs more highlighting. a lot of the armor on his left shoulder is not highlighted, and there is a lot of detail for you to pick out there. The same goes for the purple around his crotch/thighs. It seems very monotone, when there is actually a lot of detail there to add depth.

Cloak looks good, as does the bearskin cape. His face came out good as well. I would just say it need some more high-lighting.
