Early Campaign Sign-up Empty Early Campaign Sign-up

In an effort to ease some of the workload that is going to come my way as a result of the campaign associated with the new league, I've decided to post an early sign up. I'd like anyone who is interested in possibly playing the fluff based campaign in the next league (even with the limited amount that we've posted about it) to sign up here with the following:

- Their 40k race (And sub division if playing marines.)
- Their style of play (Bikes, Mass boys, Mech etc)
- Any special characters normally used in the army.
- Any fluff they usually use around their army (If you've got none that is A'okay! An example of this would be my marines, a loyalist but imperially condemned force of space marines living our their last days.)

For anyone who is wondering, standard league fees cover the fluff campaign, and if there is any prize it is likely to be a small one.

Discuss and hopefully join! (Or I'll feel really dumb.)

As we discussed last week, I am very much down for this. Not sure if I would play my Eldar or my Chaos, but my sign-up will look like this, and be solidified when the format is:

Race: Eldar/Chaos
Army Type: Mech/Mech(Biological deviance in most units)
SC's: Eldrad & Yriel (by other names)/Fabius Bile

Eldar fluff: Would need to write up some specific stuff, as Altansar fluff is pretty vague. Mainly 'we are shadowy and recently freed from the Eye of Terror. Nobody likes us. Boo!'.
Chaos fluff: Fabius Bile. Twisted genetic experiments on Marines and everyone else. I need not say more.

With regards to format, I would re-iterate what I had stated last week for the general populace of HotW. If we do a campaign, we should really all chip in a few bucks and by one of those campaign boards for the Den. That way, we can actually properly track progress, rather than just writing reports and having no idea where we stand. Campaigns are always better if you have some sort of visual progress trackers.
Personally, I would recommend steering clear of the 'home-brew unit idea'. I personally don't like it, as it can unbalance the game. If it is allowed, then it needs to be allowed by the players opponent. Just my two cents.

Hope this helps get the ball rolling.

While I like the idea of the planetary empires stuff, and I know people would be more than willing to chip in to buy it, I sadly don't think it would work for the number of players who are likely to show interest. My understanding from looking them up online is they work fantastically for 4-6, but much more poorly beyond that (Simply due to the number of tiles v. Players)

As for your latter point regarding the home brew, I'll expand on it here:

- Each player will have access to their own 'Unique' HQ. For the most part these HQ's will be relatively simple (Space Marine captain with an unusual combination of wargear. Master of the Forge Vulkan, a modified Eldrad) and usually just interesting variants on existing units for fluff reasons.

- Used with both players permission. We thought of the idea mostly because its an interesting quirk to add to the fun and fluff campaign, if you wont enjoy using them, don't use 'em!

- Access to the characters will be gained through control of 'resource' (The 'points' system for the campaign. Most players will eventually have the option of gaining their unique, but will have to give up other bonuses (Once per game rerolls, a tiny point bonus etc.)

Personally I think it'll be an interesting twist. If its a problem or if people just hate the idea from the get go, I'm happy to put it on the block. =)

((Edit: That said about Planetary Empires, I really wouldn't mind putting one of those together at some point for occasional group play. I always thought they were nifty.))
