I started painting up a Lamenters BA successor army. Even though they won't be painted in time for the tourney on Sunday I'm excited to play them. This is what I think I'll be playing:

Libby – 100

Sanguinary Priest – 75
w/jump pack

10 Tactical Marines – 225
w/meltagun, multimelta, Rhino

5 Assault Marines – 315
wo/jump packs
w/Land Raider

10 Assault Marines – 235
w/fist, 2x meltagun

Attack Bike – 50
w/multimelta


So, the Libby drives around with the combat squad tacticals (serg. and melta) in the Rhino melta gunning and blood lancing. The multimelta combat squad sits on an objective, or cover close by. The Five assault marines hide in their Land Raider which drives around shooting and claims an objective. The Sang. Priest flies around with the assault marines giving them FNP and FC.

If need be I have the ability to deepstrike the Land Raider and Assault Squad (which can combat squad to give me 2 melta shots at separate targets)

Thoughts?

drop the tac marines for assault marines (remove their jumpack and give them the free rhino, you can still split them up, you just won't have a 24" multimelta getting your hopes up each turn) and since driving around with a melta and librarian hanging out your rhino window will make them a good close combat target the extra attack they gain will make them take out an extra enemy or two before dying in a fire. (not sure how combat tactics works) but if possible I'd take both melta's (melta guns from the assault marines that you replace those tac marines with) in one squad and leave 5 retards to hold a point while you drive off with the cool kids in the rhino. You've got so many mobile melta guns in this army the idea of needing a multi melta hanging out at your back edge just seems... over prepared? too boy scouty.

the only major problem in this list is its lack of power weapons the fact is marines end up in close combat (if they don't they win) and if they're complete and utter crap in close combat like all marines are, then it doesn't help, BA are supposed to be a close combat marines army, give them some cc punch instead of just using the codex because the ultra marines dex doesn't have a deep striking land raider. (cheap shot at you, I know)

If it turns out I have no idea what I'm talking about because BA get free power weapons or all their attacks are power weapons or they can take a psychic test and make all their attacks power weapons, then I apologise. What I'm saying is, drop the fist, you have tons of melta's to take care of tanks, throw some power weapons around. Drop the tac marines, if you want tac marines I hear the ultra marine players are lonely.

The BA Land Raider is worse than the C:SM one in my opinion because BA one can only carry 10 guys.

I like your idea for assault marines in the rhino, but I think I'll stick with the tacs. I could give the sergeant some equipmnet.

Some of Mike idea's:

Hmmm, drop the Attack Bike and give the Libby a jumpack. This gives the Assault squad the 5+ cover save and also preferred enemy or fear (choice and both are equally delicious).

With the remaining pts could toss a Power Weapon on the Assault Sergeant and melta bombs and an combi-melta on the Tac Squad sergeant.

By removing the Libby from that Tac Squad you make it a really low priority target that can still pack a dual melta surprise!

Love it, nothing to do with any of my suggestions but I definitely like your adjustments.

lol raider only carrying 10 marines? IT CAN DEEP STRIKE! ITS NOT WORSE! lol, want to talk crappy raiders come cry in the corner with us Chaos SM players.

Agreed. I just prefer the ability to have a character with 5 assault termies. But I guess there's Redeemers for that.

Plus....cant the Crusader still carry 16 dudes....

That is like 7 termies and some HQ is Termie armour.....
