So, I want to put up a forum category for booking tables, but wondeirng how the logistics will work. Before, we only had one thread where games were booked, so we could keep track easily enough inside the same thread people were booking games.

However, with two thread for booking games (Fluff and Tuff), we need a central area to keep track of tables. I think a completely separate thread for booking tables should be in order.

So, discussing idea in this thread about it. Im thinking of creating a thread with the basic format of:

3:00 PM

Table 1 -
Table 2 -
Table 3 -
Table 4 -
Table 5 -

6:00 PM

Table 1 -
Table 2 -
etc., etc.

Etc. etc. but then give every member of the site open access to the category that way you can go and book your tables as neccesary. This will be for booking games on Wed. only. We can probalby get 6 tables going easily enough in the back room, but we'll start with booking 5. Again, if your available in the afternoons, I highly encourage anyone who can do so to play then... but understandable if people want to paly in the evenings when the most acitivity is happening.

Thoughts?

What if u are not in a league but still want to play. You can't book a table because the tables are having dibs on them for the leagues. So one Wednesday this past league was full so now it's going to be hader to get a table because of both leagues on same day( if they are)

Thats right. If your not in the league and tables are fully booked, you won't be able to play games Wed. evenings.

You can play any other day of the week though.. as long you remember Mordheim plays Thu.. and Board games every second Friday... blah blah.. hopefully everyone knows the night disclaimers now.

Actually, I've allready been keeping track of matches on my own time when I've noticed busy scheduling. I can post and update timetables, keeping track of who's playing, what point cost/league, and when.

5 tables sounds like a good start to me, I can keep track of who's scheduling matches at what times, basically first-come first serve, but with an eye towards making sure both leagues have opportunity to play.

Even if you're not able to get a game scheduled, you could show up, hang out, and hope to fit something in if games end early/people don't show up, etc. AND as I've noted elsewhere, afternoons are usually fairly open. The den doesn't start getting busy till about 5ish.

The format I'd suggest for games would be more along a 2 or 2 1/2 hours for a game. I don't see too many games taking longer, unless at higher point costs.

Also, with the escalation league if you're using the half boards for the smaller point games of the first couple months, we could fit 2/table if space is at a premium (I recall we did that earlier this last league with the recon games)

we need to find a balance in between getting the maximum number of games in and, making each game enjoyable i dont want anyone to feel rushed. it cannot turn into a get you in get you out as fast as possible system remember the bottom line. EVERYONE JUST WANTS TO HAVE FUN

Thats true, but 3 hours for a game shoukld be more than enough time.

If you looking for a higher point game, you'll have to try for another night other than Wednesdays. Nothing about de-emphasizing the fun, but on a busy night.. its just logistics.
