i have been reading about fish of fury, and it seems like a viable tactic, just wondering if there is anyone that thinks it is cheesy and unfair.
for those who do not know fish of fury is when you move a devilfish transport sideways then shoot under it your enemy cant cahrge you be cause he cant walk under th skimmer(i might be wrong)

Just remember your enemy gets a 4+ cover save since ur shooting under ur own transport.

I myself have done similar things with eldar waveserpents and falcons. (and also ignored the cover save with crackshot)

If your shooting at things with 2/3/4+ armor, its great since the cover becomes negligible, and remember that it doesnt completely block charges. If the fish explodes, its gone, and if your enemy moves or assaults 12" or has fleet, they can maneuver around the transport.

It is however perfectly legitimate. Ive even gone as far as using transports to block off Landraiders with terminators and characters in em, effectively stopping the 250 pt raider, 200 pt of termies, and another 200 pt of characters with 120 point wave serpents as they take turns flying around. so lil squishy eldar troops can take objectives.

Only if they are obscured by the devilfish itself. I think on the standard flying base, if you use the longer peg, this does not happen. Fire warrior models are rather short.

Fish of fury is not cheesy, nor do I think it is effective. I think it was effective in 4th, at least that's a context I see it attached to a lot. Definitely not in 5th. In the example of stopping terminators, exposing your side armour (or even rear) makes you easier to kill. Then, guess what, the terminators assault you anyway, or the land raider just drives around the devilfish.

Always remember rule number 1: never disembark. Firewarriors are T3, and really really easy to put lots of wounds on. Flamers, especially of the heavy type, lurve them.

If you are looking for movement blockers, piranhas are infinitely better. They can turbo-boost up to annoy things like LRs because they can't ram them effectively and they are a pain to get rid of with their cover save. I've had them used against my marines, and combined with kroot meatshields it is extremely difficult to get to the squishy crisis teams and broadsides (which chip away at my terminators =| )
